India is a very ancient country and its history is also remarkable. But, Do you know that India's Flag "Triranga" has great significance for this nation? It is the symbol of India's Independence. In this article, I am going to share some amazing facts related to the name "Triranga". So, let's get going!

What Do You Think, Why Is The Name Of  Flag called "Triranga"?

Triranga is a Hindi term, which means Three Colours. Tri means Three and Ranga means Colours. The reason for giving this name to our Flag is that The Indian Flag is made up of three colors. If the question arises What is our National Flag? Then you can answer Triranga or Tricolour. Triranga and Tricolour are the same in meaning. But, the difference is that Tiranga is a Hindi term and Tricolour is an English term. 

Now, let's know what are those three colors are presented in the flag. 

What Are Those Three Colours In The Flag?

There are three colors on it. They are - 

• Saffron (Kesari)

• White (Safed, Swet)

• Green (Hara)

There are also some reasons for choosing these colors for the flag. Want to know about it? Let's discuss this point now!

What Are The Significance Of Those Three Colours?

1. Saffron - Saffron is known as Kesari in Hindi. It seems like orange but there is little difference in it. This is the first color of the flag that states "courage and sacrifice". 

2. White - White is known as Safed or Sweet in Hindi. This is the middle or second color of the flag, which represents "Peace and Truth". 

3. Dark Green - Dark Green is known as Hara in Hindi. This is the bottom and third color of the flag. It represents " Faith and Chivalry".

What Is The Ratio Of The Width Of The Flag to its length? 

The Ratio Of The Width Of The Flag to its length is 2:3. 

What Is The Significance Of That Navy Blue Wheel in the middle? 

The wheel in the middle of the flag is called "Ashok Chakra", which is in Navy Blue. It has 24 spokes. You can see that Ashoka chakra below the emblem. Its diameter is equal to the width of the white layer. Chakra means Wheel. 

Who Designed The Indian Flag? 

Pingali Venkayya designed our tiranga. He was a freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh during the war of Independence. 

When Was The Tricolour Adopted? 

Tricolour was adopted on July 22, 1947. 

How Do The Flag Looks?

The flag is rectangular with three colorful bands and a small navy blue wheel.
